Founded in 2004, The Lexington Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization comprised of fifty women whose philanthropic mission is to create awareness and raise funds in the fight against cancer.  They are also dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare for cancer patients.  Currently, The Lexington Foundation, Inc. hosts three annual events - The Lexington Derby Ball, The Fall Wine Celebration, and an annual medical symposium.  Funds raised as a result of these events, in addition to donations in honor of and in memoriam, are dispersed to the community through grant requests.  Since its inception two years ago, the Foundation has raised over $1.1 million dollars for cancer research, education, and care.  To date, they have awarded and pledged over $700,000 to worthy cancer causes such as The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center, Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, Hospice of the Bluegrass and many more.
