Another winter of light rainfall renewed drought concerns in the Napa Valley as a warm spring followed a mild winter, bringing early budbreak. With favorable conditions, the growing season progressed smoothly, with light spring rains pushing canopy development. A warm spring and summer were punctuated by early September heat which led to an earlier and compressed harvest. The warm vintage favored Cabernet Franc, leading to a layered and graceful wine that typifies classic Oakville Ranch Cabernet Franc. Cassis and violets dominate the nose, with lush dark fruits, red raspberry and cocoa on the palate layered with white pepper and baking spices. Deep and brooding, it is a rich and complex wine.
